Maharashtra to forge ahead with demand for IIM
Mumbai: Maharashtra Government has decided to step up the demand for setting up an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in the state and a formal representation to the Centre in this connection is likely to be made next month, a senior minister said.
"The Human Resources and Development Ministry has convened a meeting of all State Education Ministers on July second and third. The State is going put some proposals to the HRD Ministry along with the old demands," State Minister for Higher and Technical Education Dilip Walse-Patil told PTI.
Officials from Higher and Technical Education Department said that setting up the IIM is also one of the old demands the state governemnt is likely to raise during the meeting.
Speaking about the demand for IIM in the state, the minister said, "the demand for IIM is not new.
We had asked for an IIM from the then HRD minister Murali Manohar Joshi during the NDA regime.
The State Government has also demanded it to the Congress-led UPA Government." Also, there were reports that the state government had planned to set up an IIM in Pune. The then State Government had prepared a detailed report to explain the reasons for a new IIM in Pune.
The report had said that Maharashtra has more than 120 good management institutes but not a single IIM. The financial capital Mumbai, home to hundreds of corporates, was in Maharashtra and in close proximity to Pune, said an official.

Brief write up..
* Strategize as to the overall end-state of finance with focus on
year-on-year India value proposition in terms of process improvements,
process re-engineering, headcount growth, etc.
* Coordinating the Process improvement, automation projects in finance
by tracking the projects and initiatives by bringing together the Finance
operations , IT and GS&P (Global Systems and Projects) teams together.
* Partnering with the Change Management Team (CMT) for projects such
as Automation, Finance Training modules, Metrics etc.
* Support the metrics framework in terms of having metrics for each
function in place by ensuring that CMT and the Finance operations team work
together to finalize and operationalize it.
* Support the process/ reports standardization project in finance by
tracking the projects and ensuring that all the proposals get a hearing by
the regions and the India Finance senior Management.
* Support the CFO in devising the long multi location strategy and
work on implementing it with the department heads and regional stakeholders.
* Partner with India core finance team on financial analysis of
different projects as required by the CFO.
